Mark Meredith
Mark has had a passion for journalism and the news since his early years as a researcher at the BBC. He completed a diploma course
in Magazine Journalism at Highbury College in the UK in 1993 and started his career as a feature writer for the Portsmouth News.
Mark emigrated with his wife Roslyn to Trinidad in 1996. There he made his greatest mark as an environmental journalist, writing and photographing investigative reports and features for the Trinidad Express, over a period of 10 years. He won national and regional awards for highlighting environmental and development concerns
in the Caribbean, especially as they related to its tourism product.
Mark discovered a deep interest in and talent for photography in his early years as a journalist, and his writing is often illustrated by his own images. As a freelance writer and photographer for 15 years, Mark has been a regular contributor to Caribbean Beat, the inflight magazine of regional airline Caribbean Airlines (formerly BWIA), written travel guides to Trinidad and Tobago, as well as edited and contributed stories and pictures to MACO Caribbean Living, a large, glossy lifestyle magazine. He developed the concept for and served as Editor-in-Chief of SAMAAN magazine, the Caribbean's first and only magazine that highlighted and campaigned for the region's unique environment and wildlife.
Mark and Roslyn moved to New Zealand in 2006 with their
three daughters and now work together as joint owners of
Scribbles NZ Limited.
